Interactive Multimedia Performance (under development), 60 min.
Ask Me a Question is more of a social experiment than a performance. It explores the effect of social media on our attention span and real-life social interactions. Moreover, it explores issues such as vanity, selfhood, and self-representation in our contemporary world.
The performance consists of a large screen covering the performer behind it (myself). The performer performs an hour-long jump rope workout (live). To his projected image, various filters are added throughout the performance (similar to the ones people use on Instagram). On the screen, a timer countdown shows the audience the elapsed time. The live audience members are invited to engage with the performer. Through an online platform, They can anonymously type up questions that get projected onto the large screen facing them. This situation creates unlimited possibilities for the performance, as the audience becomes the performer.
